Finding Website Success In Search Engines

By Rick Vidallon, President, Visionefx - 11/10/2008

I receive a ton of phone calls from people with existing websites or new websites wanting to know how to get on page one or two of Google.

In the world of search engines, Google takes their own sweet time in ranking or positioning websites. In most cases a website gets picked up or cached in Google in three to four weeks. There is no way to rush Google or get moved to the front of the pack. You have to wait in line with everyone else.

The same goes for all other major search engines to include Yahoo, MSN, AOL Search, ASK.com and other popular search engines.

Over the long-term, the most effective way to increase or extend your website over Google (getting found on the first page of Google for content-driven searches) is to add more pages and more content. Google loves content.

There are some finite ways you can tweak your content by using links, text formatting and unique meta tags; but at the end of the day it is all about content.

Web Page Content is KING
Each page in your website is an opportunity to tell Google who you are, what you do, what you sell and so on.

Think of it this way -- a 10-page website has 10 road markers on the Web. Each of these road markers contains instructions on how to find your website.

The more road markers you have, or "web pages", the more you increase your chances of getting found in Google searches.

This is the most important tactic you can use if you want to grow your presence on Google's search engine.

Writing Content for Your Website
Developing well-written content for your website can be an arduous task.

If you can budget the services of a professional copywriter it is well worth the cost. Especially if you can find a copy writer who understands search engine optimization.

We use the services of public relations consultant David Rourk of Rourk Public Relations. David and his public relations agency understand the finite art of writing copy for website visitors and search engines.
